Cookie Policy

This policy aims at informing anyone who accesses the websites/web-based systems of “First Investment Bank” S.A. (Fibank) on the World Wide Web on the following: Fibank uses cookies, the purposes they are used for, and the possibility of managing and opting out of them.

We use cookies or similar tools on our websites and systems to improve their performance and your experience. This policy explains how we do this.

What are cookies?

An HTTP cookie, commonly referred to simply as a "cookie," is a package of information sent by a web server to an Internet browser, such as the Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc., and then returned by the browser each time it accesses that same server. A cookie remains on one’s device to be used in a subsequent session, yet it can be deleted in the meantime. If one uses more than one browser, each of them has a separate storage space for cookies. Cookies do not refer to a specific person, rather to a combination of a device and an Internet browser. Therefore, a person who uses multiple browsers and/or devices has a separate set of cookies for each device and browser combination. On the other hand, cookies do not distinguish between multiple users sharing the same device and browser, unless they have different user profiles.

Cookies perform many different functions. For example, they help us remember one’s username or preferences and analyze how well our websites are performing.

Types of cookies used by Fibank and their purpose:

  • Functional cookies – used to save user preferences between sessions – for convenience as well as to improve usability
  • Custid – an internal e-fibank customer number. Used to redirect to the last visited profile in e-fibank (in case a user has rights to multiple registrations)
  • Lang – an interface language settings code. Used to save language settings between user sessions.
  • Hash – randomly generated string of characters and numbers – stored for 14 days before a new string is generated. Used for traffic analysis.
  • Startpage_bg : number – it changes on every page visited on the site and is used to check where the user came from to the current page.
  • Symfony – a randomly generated string of characters and numbers – valid only for the specific visit (deleted after closing the browser). Traffic analysis within any given session.
  • Third party – Fibank uses and/or allows the use of third-party cookies (Google Analytics and Facebook) on its websites falling in turn into the above categories as well.

What data do we collect?

We collect information for the following purposes: troubleshooting, administering our websites and systems, analyzing trends, gathering demographic information, complying with applicable law, and cooperating with law enforcement agencies. We may also share this information with our authorized third-party service providers and advertisers – in order to determine the overall effectiveness of our online advertising, content, and programming. In addition, we use cookies to store software settings, preferences, among others.

Other mechanisms for collecting information

We may use other standard technologies such as pixel tags (Facebook, Google) and other web beacons ("web beacons", "cookies") in order to track how one uses our websites and offers, or we may allow Third Party Service Providers use these codes on our behalf. Pixel tags and other web beacons are small graphic images placed on individual parts of our web pages or in our emails – further allowing us to understand whether or not one has performed a specific action. When one accesses these pages or opens or clicks an email, the pixel tags or other web beacons send a notification (it does not contain personal data) about this action. Pixel tags allow us to understand users, calculate and segment visitor traffic, measure conversions on our websites, and retarget (remarket) advertisements. We may also use pixel tags and other web beacons provided to us by our Affiliates and/or marketing Partners for the same purposes.

Does anyone else use cookies on our website?

When one visits our web pages, we and/or our authorized third-party service providers and advertisers may automatically collect such information by means of using electronic tools (cookies and other web beacons or pixel tags – to name a few).

We use or allow third parties to use cookies on our websites. We use Google Analytics and similar systems to monitor traffic on our websites and software platforms.

We may use third-party cookies to help us with market research, revenue tracking, functionality improvement, and compliance monitoring.
